The presentation is centered on the fundamental principals of playing the drum kit, philosophy of collaboration, personal craft, and approach to the full scope of overall performance. The key points of the workshop are as follows:

- Identifying one's role within an ensemble

- Exercises for listening and interacting with other musicians

- Physicality in performance

- Drumming as language and how to express one's thoughts

- Developing control dynamics, both solo and as an accompanist

- Improvisation, imagination and how to play beyond the musician's own perceived limit

In his clinic, Viglione discusses how to develop one's personal voice and what the student is trying to communicate through their instrument. Too often students are taught or expected to conform to a certain mold or expectation. The latter part of the speech will focus on how to incorporate one's natural impulses and artistic sensibility, without censoring any if the musician's natural creative instincts. Viglione will also discuss how to avoid bad habits and ways to constructively critique one's own playing as well as listen for areas that the students individually want to correct and develop through a question and answer session. The clinic will close with autographs and photos for all students that are interested. Most importantly, this presentation is meant to inspire the player to create, equipping students with the skills and confidence to make music and art that reflects one's own unique voice and experience.

Special Thanks to JamSpot, Vic Firth, and Zildjian.
