THE BORDERLINE: THE SHOW
Subtitle: The Varied Shades of Chris Brokaw

He is on the stage all evening: alone, on guitar with consonant, and drumming the beat for The New Year. While I am indeed thoroughly amazed by his varied and skillful musicianship, I am completely awestruck by his ability to go non-stop and keep his various hats straight. How can he wear so many and not forget where he's placed at least one or two; let alone not sit on some or trip over others? No, Chris is an inspired musician with consummate juggling skills. He is a revelation.

chris brokaw CHRIS alone,

etched in blue, a pale figure,

a white t-shirt refracting light,

a blue-white flame subtly searing the darkened stage.

His foot, a percussive pal,

shoed within that well fitted tambourine.

His guitar, visibly obscured, melds into his person.

This triad pierces the gloom with its aching unity.

The darkness recedes.

He flickers and lights out souls.

Am I then indeed Alice once more tripping on the light fantastic? What is this revolving Merry Go Round of painted hues? Now stark white like a noir interrogation; now blazing red blending into blue; now underwater waves tinged in purple swirls; then a hazy blue roped fishing net; then a golden sunrise now bleeding orange into a setting sun; now...then...now.....

DAMNED CURSED CURFEW!!!!!!!!

Dizzied by this prismatic swirl of kaleidoscopic delight, I'm buoyed along by the music. On the borderline of bliss, I happily could have sank down even deeper and floated outside time within consonance.
