Brian and Amanda, dual beacons in the Port of Amsterdam, beckon us onward. In the bright light at the edge of the stage they feel totally naked, stripped to a raw emotional core. But then the beacons fade off upstage and the inevitable darkness falls. The blind human surge crashes. (EXEUNT THE DRESDEN DOLLS)
