So I'm standing right inside the gates waiting to be found by Victoria, the wondrous woman who's overseeing the photographers for the evening. I'm thinking, "She doesn't know what I look like. She'll never find me in all these people. Should I put my camera on my head? What am I gonna do?" As the minutes tick away, I get more anxious trying to decide what my possible next steps are. When suddenly, not five feet in front of me, Amanda cuts through the crowd, places her ukulele case on the ground and readies for an impromptu performance. I'm instantly next to her, camera in hand. Amanda looks at me, "Talk about timing." Indeed... indeed.... sometimes fate can be oh so kind.

And in the midst of this "Creep" croon, a young man wearing an "official" t-shirt steps next to our heroine and says politely but FIRMLY "You can't play here." A mixture of laughter and shouts erupt from the throng: "But this is AMANDA PALMER!!" "Don't you know who this?" "She's playing in the show!" "Are you from Boston?" "Hey, Amanda, in your own hometown no less!" Meanwhile Katie takes the young man aside explaining who the Dresden Dolls are, that Amanda is one of them etc. etc. He radios in for back-up, er... I mean confirmation as to how to proceed --"One of the performers in tonight's show is out here singing. Can she do this?" More shouts--"Amanda Palmer. "She's" Amanda Palmer." Cut to Amanda who's batting her eyelashes a la Louise Brooks' "Lulu." The word comes down. All is well. Da Man will allow "her" to continue...

Victory!! Ea Venit!! Vidit!! Vicit!!
